- Ensure proper patient positioning and exposure techniques to obtain the best possible diagnostic images.
- Prepare patients for radiographic procedures by explaining the process, answering questions, and ensuring their comfort.
- Assist patients in positioning correctly on the radiographic table, including those with mobility challenges.
- Provide radiation protection measures for patients and staff.
- Process digital or computed radiography images and ensure they meet the required quality standards.
- Review images for clarity, exposure, and positioning before submitting them for physician review.
- Notify the referring physician of any significant abnormalities requiring immediate attention.
- Work closely with radiologists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure the accurate diagnosis of patients.
- Communicate effectively with the healthcare team about procedures and patient conditions.
- Operate and maintain X-ray equipment, including troubleshooting technical issues and performing basic maintenance.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns to the appropriate personnel.
- Maintain accurate patient records, including details of radiographic procedures, images, and patient information.
- Ensure all documentation complies with healthcare regulations and organizational standards.
- Registered with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO).
- Continuing education annually as required by the CMRTO.
- Work based on all regulations and ALARA principles.
- Minimum 1 year of experience as an X-Ray Technologist in a clinical or hospital setting.
- Proficiency in digital radiography and computed radiography systems.
- Excellent knowledge of radiologic equipment and safety protocols.
- Strong understanding of human anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for working with patients and the healthcare team.
- Attention to detail, with strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Shifts: May include weekdays, weekends, or evening shifts depending on the facility's needs.
- Physical Demands: Requires standing for long periods, moving X-ray equipment, and assisting patients with limited mobility.
