X-Ray Technologist Job Description

Asset Recruitment Solutions is seeking a skilled X-Ray Technologist to perform diagnostic imaging procedures and assist physicians in diagnosing injuries and diseases.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct high-quality X-ray imaging for various body parts, including chest, extremities, and spine, following physician orders.
  • Ensure proper patient positioning and exposure techniques to obtain the best possible diagnostic images.
  • Prepare patients for radiographic procedures by explaining the process, answering questions, and ensuring their comfort.
  • Assist patients in positioning correctly on the radiographic table, including those with mobility challenges.
  • Provide radiation protection measures for patients and staff.
  • Process digital or computed radiography images and ensure they meet the required quality standards.
  • Review images for clarity, exposure, and positioning before submitting them for physician review.
  • Notify the referring physician of any significant abnormalities requiring immediate attention.
  • Work closely with radiologists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure the accurate diagnosis of patients.
  • Communicate effectively with the healthcare team about procedures and patient conditions.
  • Operate and maintain X-ray equipment, including troubleshooting technical issues and performing basic maintenance.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns to the appropriate personnel.
  • Maintain accurate patient records, including details of radiographic procedures, images, and patient information.
  • Ensure all documentation complies with healthcare regulations and organizational standards.
Qualifications:
  • Registered with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO).
  • Continuing education annually as required by the CMRTO.
  • Work based on all regulations and ALARA principles.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience as an X-Ray Technologist in a clinical or hospital setting.
  • Proficiency in digital radiography and computed radiography systems.
  • Excellent knowledge of radiologic equipment and safety protocols.
  • Strong understanding of human anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills for working with patients and the healthcare team.
  • Attention to detail, with strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Work Environment:
  • Shifts: May include weekdays, weekends, or evening shifts depending on the facility's needs.
  • Physical Demands: Requires standing for long periods, moving X-ray equipment, and assisting patients with limited mobility.
