Provincial Laboratory Medicine Services is seeking a skilled Laboratory Assistant Data Entry Clerk to join our team in Vancouver, BC.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a detail-oriented and organized individual to assist with laboratory testing and data entry. The successful candidate will be responsible for receiving patients, collecting blood specimens, preparing specimens for analysis, and processing data. If you have a strong background in laboratory procedures and excellent communication skills, we encourage you to apply.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Receive patients and collect blood specimens for testing
  • Prepare specimens for analysis, including centrifugation and labeling
  • Process data, including logging information into the computer database and batching specimens for distribution
  • Perform receptionist duties, including answering phones and responding to general inquiries
  • Print labels, computer-generated blood collection lists, and reports as required
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, including cleaning blood collection baskets and wiping down counters
Requirements:
  • Grade 12 and completion of a recognized Lab Assistant training program, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Ability to deal with others effectively
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position
  • Ability to organize work and operate related equipment
