Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Indigenous Community Engagement Coordinator to join our Community and Indigenous Initiatives team at FortisBC. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in building and maintaining relationships with local communities, municipalities, and Indigenous communities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement community engagement strategies to foster strong relationships with Indigenous communities and stakeholders.
  • Provide support to the Community and Indigenous Initiatives team, including municipal and Indigenous community engagement, tracking and reporting, communications, event planning, and coordination.
  • Attend internal and external project meetings, develop and deliver presentations to internal and external audiences, and perform administrative duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • A keen interest in community and relationship building, including municipal and Indigenous community engagement.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a passion for working with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts in an easy-to-understand manner.
  • Good verbal and written communication, and presentation skills.
  • Understanding of the Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action and the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, Murdered & Missing Indigenous Women & Girls Inquiry Calls for Justice, as well as British Columbia's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.
  • Ability to work well with minimal supervision and computer proficiency with MS Office.
