Job Title: Occupational Therapist II

This part-time permanent Occupational Therapist II position is based out of Mackenzie House in High Level, Alberta. This role offers an opportunity to work in Continuing Care, be a member of a multidisciplinary rehabilitation team, and work with a Therapy Assistant, while supporting residents with a variety of needs in the continuing care facility.

About the Role

As an Occupational Therapist II, you will be responsible for the coordination of occupational therapy and other allied health clinical services within a program or service area. You will provide supervision of students and team members as assigned. You will work both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team, providing leadership to other healthcare professionals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Make day-to-day clinical decisions on patient/family needs regarding assessment, intervention, discharge, and follow-up.
  • Make decisions and advise team members on complex clinical cases and provide clinical leadership within the program or service area to ensure safe, efficient, and effective client care.
  • Ensure occupational therapy practice is evidence-based and in alignment with Alberta legislation and regulations, professional standards of practice, code of ethics, and AHS policy and guidelines.
  • Provide coordination of the day-to-day operations of an assigned service area and monitor care delivery, identifying service needs and assisting other medical staff with caseload management.
  • Participate in program development and operational planning and represent the department on committees or programs.
Requirements

Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university program or bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university program and related experience. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the Alberta College of Occupational Therapists (ACOT).
