Department Site Lead Pathology Specialist

Department Site Lead Pathology
This is a part-time term position for 3 years at the Regional Hospital site. The successful candidate will collaborate with the Department Chief to provide leadership and support, assisting in the effective organization, management, and functioning of the Medical Staff within the Pathology department.
The Department Site Lead Pathology will work closely with the Department Chief to update plans for physician resources, space, supplies, instruments, and equipment. They will also assist with appointment, reappointment, privileging, remediation, and discipline processes, as well as develop and maintain a physician resource plan.
The ideal candidate will have superior communication and engagement skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective collaborative working relationships and to coach and develop others. They will also demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement and to a diverse and culturally competent work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with the Department Chief to update plans for physician resources, space, supplies, instruments, and equipment
- Assist the Department Chief in appointment, reappointment, privileging, remediation, and discipline processes
- Develop and maintain a physician resource plan
- Assist the Department Chief in physician recruitment, orientation, and retention within the Department
- Assist the Department Chief to develop, establish, and maintain quality assurance, quality improvement, patient safety, risk management, and utilization activities within the Department
- Participate in Departmental multidisciplinary quality improvement management programs
- Assist the Department Chief to address matters related to professional and ethical conduct, continuing professional development, and teaching and research
- Assist the Department Chief with overall management of the Department, including acting as Chief during short-term absences and call coverage schedules
Required Qualifications:
- Current licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador
- Formal physician leadership training and/or equivalent experience
- Complete education in quality and patient safety as required
- A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance
