Position Overview
- We are seeking a qualified Senior Underwriting Specialist to enhance our Underwriting team.
- This role is part of a unionized environment and adheres to the CUPE 1816 Bargaining Unit guidelines, with compensation based on hourly rates as per the Collective Agreement.
Key Responsibilities
Under the guidance of the Assistant Manager, Underwriting, the incumbent will:
- Evaluate new business opportunities, renewal requests, and contract modifications for potential and existing clients, ensuring alignment with established Level 3 underwriting criteria.
- Interpret contracts and assess eligibility and risks, making informed decisions based on comprehensive underwriting considerations.
- Calculate rates and prepare detailed proposal and renewal documentation.
- Collaborate in the inter-departmental quote rate review process and prepare customized reports for clients.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements within the underwriting function to enhance efficiency and service delivery.
Qualifications
- Minimum of six years of relevant group underwriting experience, including at least two years in a Level 2 or equivalent role.
- Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as business, finance, or mathematics.
- CEBS designation or completion of the full FMLI program.
- Proficiency in advanced Excel and intermediate Word.
- Completion of advanced Excel and intermediate Word courses.
