Security Specialist Job Description

A.S.P. Incorporated is seeking a highly skilled Security Specialist to join our team in the City of Toronto. As a Security Specialist, you will be responsible for providing security services at Respite Centers, Refugee, and Shelter locations.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Providing security guard services at Respite Centers, Refugee, and Shelter locations.
  2. Monitoring and patrolling assigned areas to ensure the safety and security of clients, staff, and visitors.
  3. Observing, investigating, and acting on possible breaches of security, fire, and safety hazards, illegal entry, theft, and malfunction or interruption of utilities.
  4. Providing highly visible security with professional knowledge of security protocols and the ability to react in multiple scenarios.
  5. Acting as an ambassador of the client site by creating a presence that builds a safe and welcoming environment for all service users, employees, and visitors.
  6. Informing designated authorities in the event of security, fire, or health emergencies.
  7. Escorting designated authorities, police, fire, and ambulance personnel to emergency locations.
  8. Documenting all security incidents into a clear, concise, complete, and accurate security incident report.
  9. Recording and maintaining a logbook of daily activities, unusual or special occurrences, and issuance of equipment to staff.
  10. Enforcing the Trespass to Property Act, including physically removing individuals found trespassing or engaging in criminal acts on premises or the assigned property.
  11. Performing emergency response duties in accordance with the Emergency Response Manual.
  12. Liaising with Shelter management to communicate any issues and challenges to site operations and reporting any health and safety concerns or fire and life safety concerns.
Requirements:
  1. 1 year of Canadian Police or Canadian Armed Forces experience.
  2. Graduate from a recognized community college in the field of law enforcement, security administration, or a related field, including justice studies, social service, mental health, and/or healthcare.
  3. Minimum of two (2) years of experience within the North American security industry and experience in a related security function.
  4. Hands-on experience with making or assisting arrests.
  5. Eligible to work in Canada.
  6. Strong communication and observation skills.
  7. Ability to work in a high-stress environment.
  8. Ability to make quick and informed decisions.
  9. Licensed by the Province of Ontario as a registered Security Guard and must maintain the license for the duration of employment.
  10. Smart Serve, De-Escalation, SCDT, Standard First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications.
  11. Comprehensive knowledge of common security policies and various related Acts, Codes, and legislation, including the Criminal Code, the Trespass to Property Act, the Fire Code, and WHMIS.
