About the Role
The Senior Youth Program Coordinator is tasked with supporting the School Age Child Care Director/Site Director/Group Leader in the daily management of the program. This role involves maintaining a safe, clean, and stimulating environment for our Before and After-School initiatives. The Coordinator will design, prepare, and implement a variety of activities for participants, including STEAM projects, group games, HEPA and PHD activities, and Character Development curriculum, while also providing homework support. Responsibilities include overseeing all program activities, engaging with families, and ensuring the availability of necessary equipment and supplies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, supervise, and execute the program in alignment with the YMCA's objectives and the School Age & YUSA Day Camp curriculum.
  • Effectively create and implement lesson plans that can be utilized by staff.
  • Develop a substitute folder containing lesson plans, daily schedules, special activities, and emergency protocols.
  • Incorporate Developmental Assets into curriculum activities for children.
  • Establish structure and routines for children, setting clear boundaries and behavior expectations.
  • Supervise other staff (Group Leaders) in their responsibilities.
  • Ensure the safety of children at all times, including the ability to implement emergency procedures as needed.
  • Participate in parent/child events as required.
  • Maintain effective communication with parents throughout the program year.
  • Keep the classroom environment attractive and clean at all times.
  • Report any concerns, conflicts, or issues directly to the supervisor.
  • Ensure that all supplies and program needs are available when necessary for participants.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must possess a high school diploma or GED.
  • Must obtain CDA within 18 months of employment.
  • Current CPR and First Aid Certification required.
  • Documentation of physical examination and TB skin test is necessary.
  • Must clear local jurisdiction requirements for criminal background and/or fingerprinting.
  • Must meet county/state licensing standards.
  • Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to comply with OSSE requirements.
  • 90 Hour Certification (45 hours in Growth and Development and 45 hours in School-Age Method and Materials) required or to be obtained upon employment.
  • Employment is contingent upon passing a background check and drug screening.

Working Conditions:

  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods.
  • Must be physically active to engage in games and sports with children.
  • Must be able to lift at least 35 pounds.
  • Visual acuity is required to observe all children.
