About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to join our team as a Youth Healing Social Aide at the Cree Board of Health and Social Services of James Bay (CBHSSJB). This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a strong commitment to supporting the rehabilitation and reintegration of youth into society.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Implement Therapeutic Programs: Develop and lead therapeutic activities, teachings, and cultural programs for youth, ensuring their learning and acquisition of Cree values, attitudes, and behaviors.
  • Provide Supervision and Support: Provide 24/7 supervision and support to youth, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
  • Collaborate with Stakeholders: Work in partnership with youth, families, social services, schools, and other relevant entities to provide comprehensive support and services.
  • Record Keeping and Reporting: Maintain accurate records and reports, including daily logs, bi-weekly progress reports, and court documents.
  • Communication and Counseling: Utilize formal and informal counseling techniques to support youth and families, ensuring effective communication and conflict resolution.
Requirements
  • Education: A college diploma in social work or a related field, or a certificate in social work techniques or social assistance techniques.
  • Experience: A minimum of 3 years of experience in youth healing or a related field, with a strong understanding of Cree culture and language.
  • Knowledge and Abilities: Excellent knowledge of child care and group care, with a strong understanding of families and human relations. Proficiency in office computer applications and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Language

Fluency in Cree and English is required, with fluency in French being an asset.

Other Requirements
  • Driver's Permit: A valid driver's permit class 4B is required, with a clean driving record.
  • Availability: The successful candidate must be available to travel within and outside the Eeyou Istchee territory, as required, and be willing to work occasional evening shifts and on-call periods.
