Manufacturing Engineer Coordinator

Job SummaryThe Manufacturing Engineer Coordinator will be responsible for championing the design, build, and development of assembly/stamping processes required to assemble various components and assemblies in the chassis/BIW commodity groups for our customers. This role will also involve championing the prototype process to prove out the assembly process of previously listed products.
Key Responsibilities:- Handles projects from inception to completion, including timing, concept, feasibility, design, construction, try-out, launch, final buy-off (PPAP and run at rate), prototype programs, and engineering changes.
- Conducts appropriate Manpower efficiency studies.
- Prepares reports, charts, and other documentation required for engineering records and projects.
- Works with all departments and customers to design solutions that improve production efficiency, ergonomics, safety, and maintenance-related issues.
- Supports continuous improvement initiatives and contributes to new ideas.
- Reviews, monitors, and coordinates tooling design, build, approval process, and capital budgets.
- Supervises equipment relocation and installation to MBCM.
- Assists in setting up preventative maintenance programs for new equipment.
- Assists in resolving quality concerns and supports fast response open issues related to the engineering department.
- Reviews, coordinates, and implements all customer-approved engineering changes.
- Interfaces with production departments, customers, and vendors to design packaging solutions to improve production planning, efficiency, ergonomic design, and economic viability of our operation.
- Reviews, monitors, and coordinates custom packaging design, build, approval process, and capital budgets.
- Updates and documents current plant layouts.
- Supports new business quoting process with packaging recommendations.
- Supports activities for successful attainment of PPAP.
- Knows and understands process documentation and customer-specific requirements.
- Additional projects and responsibilities as required.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- An engineering degree or diploma in mechanical, manufacturing, or industrial engineering.
- Minimum 3 years of related work experience within a lean manufacturing environment, preferably automotive assembly.
- Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
- Practical experience in costing and quoting.
- Experience in project management.
- Able to read and interpret CAD drawings, experience with AutoCAD.
- Ability to work overtime to meet customer needs.
