Lead Machine Learning Operations Engineer

The Senior Machine Learning Operations Engineer plays a pivotal role in the design, development, deployment, and oversight of machine learning models. This position requires close collaboration with Data Analysts and ML Engineers during the Analytics Exploration phase, as well as partnership with Software and Data Engineers to ensure that the infrastructure and data pipelines are optimized for the deployment of machine learning solutions.
Key Responsibilities:- Interpret and convert business and functional requirements into machine learning problem statements.
- Break down intricate machine learning challenges into clear deliverables and specifications.
- Evaluate and enhance algorithms, feature sets, and validation metrics provided by the Analytics Exploration team to ensure their effectiveness for specific challenges; adjust and retrain models as necessary for deployment.
- Transform the exploration team's code into robust, production-ready solutions, incorporating CI/CD pipeline integration and infrastructure setup for training and monitoring to fulfill enterprise standards.
- Supervise the continuous improvement and maintenance of our model-agnostic MLOps infrastructure and Python package, ensuring exceptional performance and reliability.
- Work alongside development teams to test and implement machine learning models.
- Establish metrics to consistently assess the performance of machine learning solutions.
- Ensure compliance with performance standards, data security, and model governance requirements.
- Stay updated with emerging tools, algorithms, and techniques in machine learning and strive to integrate them within the organization.
A minimum of five years of experience in developing and deploying enterprise-scale machine learning solutions is required. A bachelor's degree in software engineering, data science, computer science, or a related quantitative discipline [or equivalent professional experience] is necessary. An advanced degree in a relevant quantitative field is preferred. A solid understanding of probability and statistical models is essential. Proficiency in machine learning algorithms is required. Capability to conduct experiments scientifically and analyze outcomes is necessary. Experience with code reproducibility and version control is essential. Advanced programming skills in Python and SQL are required. Familiarity with Linux, Bash, and Docker is essential. Proficiency with AWS ML technology stack or equivalent is necessary. Experience with CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code is required. Strong collaboration skills across multiple teams and stakeholders, including analytics, development, and operations teams, are essential. Exceptional communication skills with the ability to convey technical concepts in accessible language for all stakeholders are necessary. A high degree of creativity and collaboration is required. Demonstrated good judgment, a sense of urgency, and a commitment to high standards of ethics, regulatory compliance, customer service, and business integrity are essential.
