Job Summary

This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate and experienced educator to support the academic and personal growth of Indigenous students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the full range of student abilities and adapt teaching methods to meet diverse learning needs
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues
  • Stay up-to-date with continuing professional development and best practices in Indigenous education
  • Modify materials and resources to meet the needs of Indigenous students
  • Utilize technology to enhance learning and support student success
  • Embed Indigenous perspectives and cultural awareness into teaching practices
  • Develop and maintain connections with Indigenous communities and promote cultural awareness in the school
  • Manage documentation and administrative tasks associated with the Indigenous Support Program
Requirements
  • Valid BC Teaching Certificate
  • Two years of successful classroom experience
  • Knowledge of local Saanich Indigenous Communities
  • Significant leadership experience in Indigenous community and cultural awareness
  • Demonstrated experience working with Indigenous students and supporting their literacy, numeracy, and life skills development
  • Effective communication and administrative skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Indigenous ancestry and knowledge of local history and culture
  • Ability to relate positively with the Indigenous community on a daily basis
