Aerospace Fleet Transition Engineer
Position Overview:
The Aerospace Fleet Transition Engineer plays a pivotal role in supporting the CH149 Cormorant fleet's transition to a post-Mid-Life Upgrade status. Reporting to the Fleet Support Supervisor, this position involves a variety of engineering activities aimed at enhancing the operational capabilities of the fleet.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the creation and evaluation of inspection packages for aircraft components, utilizing guidelines from Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs).
- Conduct thorough reviews and comparisons of aircraft maintenance programs and technical documentation.
- Identify and analyze options to resolve issues presented in various forums, including:
- Configuration discrepancies among different aircraft fleets;
- Technical enhancements and product improvement initiatives.
- Implement corrective actions related to Service Difficulty Reporting, Special Inspections, Service Bulletins, and Airworthiness Directives.
- Monitor and report on Flight Safety Occurrences, ensuring compliance with ATO processes.
- Support the Aircraft Flight Manual Working Group as necessary.
- Provide analytical support and business cases for modifications and ATO initiatives.
- Coordinate technical advice delivery to Main Operating Bases (MOB) regarding modifications.
- Track design changes on CH149 aircraft, ensuring compliance with OEM Product Improvement Leaflets and Service Bulletins.
- Facilitate effective communication and act as a liaison on technical matters with various stakeholders, including MOBs and Design Authorities.
- Drive initiatives for process improvements and efficiency enhancements within the maintenance program.
- Prepare and review engineering reports, technical memoranda, and directives.
- Support configuration management and data management activities within the department.
- Perform airworthiness functions as a recognized Design Engineer or Design Technologist when authorized.
- Undertake additional tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (B.Eng. or B.Sc.) or a Diploma in Engineering Technology (CET), or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer or CET is preferred.
- A minimum of two years of engineering experience is desirable.
- Familiarity with rotary wing aircraft structures and mechanical systems is advantageous.
- Understanding of airworthiness regulations and military aircraft modification processes is beneficial.
- Experience in an aircraft engineering environment is a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong project management capabilities.
- Effective interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with individuals at all organizational levels.
- Self-discipline and the ability to work independently when necessary.
- Strong analytical skills, with the capacity to prioritize multiple tasks effectively.
- Must meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Secret Level II Security Clearance, and Transport Canada RAIC clearance.
