Westview Projects is a reputable general contracting firm that operates within the Eastern Ontario region. With its headquarters in Ottawa, the company is dedicated to providing top-notch construction management services to a diverse range of clients, including institutional, multi-residential, commercial, and retail sectors.

As a key member of the Operations Team, the Project Manager plays a crucial role in communicating the primary contract details to the project team for effective execution. This position involves planning, scheduling, organizing, and evaluating projects from inception to completion, ensuring adherence to timelines, specifications, and budgetary constraints. The Project Manager is also responsible for identifying and resolving issues, guaranteeing that the team performs optimally and that the project meets all expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee project performance, including schedule adherence, cost management, equipment utilization, workforce allocation, material procurement, safety compliance, and quality assurance.
  2. Foster and maintain strong relationships with the project team, subcontractors, architects, consultants, and clients.
  3. Coordinate all construction activities to ensure alignment with design specifications, budgetary limits, and project timelines.
  4. Lead project planning and execution efforts.
  5. Conduct site visits, safety assessments, and set a positive example to ensure compliance with established policies and standards.
  6. Ensure thorough project close-out procedures are followed.
  7. Facilitate project meetings effectively.
  8. Guide, mentor, supervise, and evaluate the performance of direct reports and team members.
  9. Contribute to securing new projects by engaging in estimating processes, collaborating with subcontractors, and participating in proposals and presentations.
  10. Negotiate claims and disputes with clients and subcontractors.
  11. Perform additional duties as necessary.

Qualifications and Skills:

  1. A post-secondary diploma or degree in engineering or construction management.
  2. At least 5 years of progressive experience in the construction industry, including leadership and mentoring roles.
  3. Understanding of various construction methodologies, sequencing, problem-solving techniques, and timelines.
  4. Familiarity with construction project management software such as Jonas Premier, Plan Grid, and Blue Beam.
  5. Knowledge of relevant construction regulations and building codes.
  6. Ability to troubleshoot construction-related issues, including sequencing and staffing challenges.
  7. Preferred experience in estimating (1 year).
  8. Capacity to adapt and thrive in a fast-paced work environment.
  9. Proficient understanding of engineering/construction plans, specifications, methods, and procedures.
  10. Strong oral and written communication skills.
  11. Aptitude for building effective working relationships with a diverse range of individuals, including owners, managers, designers, supervisors, and tradespeople.
  12. Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  13. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
