Key Responsibilities
As a vital member of the senior leadership team, the Director of Administration will provide strategic leadership and oversight for all operational and administrative functions within the School of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies. Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and executing workforce planning strategies and financial management practices.
- Overseeing the preparation and management of the School's budget, including annual operational and capital budget submissions.
- Monitoring administrative operations across a complex campus environment to identify improvement opportunities.
- Implementing business processes to mitigate financial, operational, and legal risks.
- Providing strategic direction to operational teams and managing the allocation of human, physical, and financial resources.
Qualifications
Education:
- Undergraduate Degree
- Chartered Professional Accountant Designation
- Master of Business Administration preferred
Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years in a senior leadership role managing budgets, human resources, and projects, ideally within an academic setting.
- Experience in a unionized environment.
- Proven track record in initiating and leading progressive change to enhance business processes, policies, and strategies.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Comprehensive understanding of financial budgeting principles, strategic planning processes, and human resources practices.
- Familiarity with labor relations.
- Expertise in building collaborative teams and leading personnel development.
- Ability to recognize the need for change and develop effective change management strategies.
- Strong communication skills for engaging with all organizational levels.
- Capacity to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
- Innovative problem-solving skills to adapt to new processes or technologies.
- Ability to prioritize and manage a high volume of work with precision.
- Leadership qualities to inspire and guide teams towards excellence.
- Project management skills aligned with strategic goals and operational objectives.
