Overview: Toromont Material Handling is seeking a skilled Industrial Battery Technician to provide essential maintenance and repair services for industrial batteries and chargers in a field setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to the highest safety standards, ensuring a secure and healthy work environment in alignment with company policies.
  • Conduct battery cell replacements as necessary.
  • Manage the filling of battery cells with acid and assess specific gravity levels.
  • Perform comprehensive services and repairs on a variety of industrial batteries and chargers.
  • Execute preventative maintenance tasks, including watering and cleaning of battery systems.
  • Respond promptly to service requests for battery and charger diagnostics and repairs.
  • Utilize both electrical and mechanical testing tools for accurate assessments.
  • Identify and suggest additional repair needs for customer equipment.
  • Collaborate with fellow technicians to ensure efficient repair processes.
  • Document battery metrics and maintain accurate workflow records.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of a College Diploma in Electrical, Mechanical, or Electronic Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Previous service experience with batteries and chargers is advantageous.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical skills, with a solid understanding of electrical systems.
  • Ability to interpret and work with electrical schematics.
  • Excellent customer service skills with strong communication abilities.
  • Capability to perform tasks within established timelines in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated team player with a proactive approach and high ethical standards.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong sense of urgency and organizational skills.
  • Willingness to adapt to on-call schedules as necessary.
  • Ability to operate various material handling equipment.
  • Possession of a valid Driver's License (class 5) and readiness to travel within the designated service area.
