Position Overview
Become a vital part of UHN's Laboratory Medicine Program, recognized as Canada's largest hospital diagnostic laboratory and a global leader in academic laboratories. Handling over 30 million tests annually and serving 1,300 outpatients daily, we are at the forefront of pathology and clinical testing. Engage in innovative practices and contribute to pioneering research, education, and exemplary service. Join our dedicated team of 700 professionals and play a crucial role in advancing the field of laboratory medicine.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain laboratory equipment and ensure cleanliness of the work area.
  • Prepare written and electronic documentation to record procedures and test outcomes.
  • Participate in educational, safety, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Adhere to hospital and departmental policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications

  • Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technologist program.
  • Current registration with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists (CMLTO).
  • Preferred: One (1) year of recent laboratory experience in a large hospital Biochemistry Laboratory.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop skills and knowledge across all laboratory areas.
  • Understanding of laboratory procedures, instruments, equipment, and techniques relevant to the assigned area.
  • Strong problem recognition and resolution skills.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Proficient verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
  • Capable of working efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to maintain accuracy under pressure.
  • Familiarity with applicable hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Commitment to ongoing education and professional development.
  • Ability to mentor technical staff.
