Registered Veterinary Technologist - Dentistry and Oral Surgery

We are seeking an experienced Registered Veterinary Technologist to join our Dentistry and Oral Surgery department at the Calgary Animal Referral and Emergency Centre. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality care to our patients and clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • General anesthesia delivery and/or monitoring (CRI) will be a key responsibility of the position, along with performing advanced technical skills.
  • Experience with small animal veterinary ventilators is an asset.
  • Patient treatments process procedures, including starting client appointments, collecting and running or submitting blood samples, and other duties as per appointment or doctor request.
  • Maintaining timely and accurate patient records.
  • Familiarity with taking dental radiographs, dental charting, and performing dental hygiene procedures is an asset but not required.
  • General pre/post operative assistance.
  • General housekeeping.
  • Student Training; offering practicum support for students.
  • Attending career fairs when requested.
Qualifications:
  • Completed an accredited veterinary program; Veterinary Technology Diploma, Veterinary Technician Diploma, or Animal Health Technology Diploma.
  • VTNE completion or eligible.
  • Ideally 2 years experience within a dentistry department or general practice with supporting dental procedures.
  • Eligible for registration with AAAHT in Alberta.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work within many teams at the hospital.
  • Adaptability, you understand that you will be required to recognize and adapt to a situation, appointment, and/or procedure when supporting our specialist and other teams when situations call for tact, calmness, and empathy.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
