VCA Canada is seeking a skilled Registered Veterinary Technologist, RVT to join our team at Shawnessy South Animal Hospital. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work with a diverse range of patients and cases, and to develop your skills and expertise in a supportive and collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist veterinarians with surgical procedures, including preparation, assisting, and patient recovery.
  • Conduct physical examinations, patient assessments, and take vital signs.
  • Administer medications, perform venipuncture, and collect blood samples.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records.
  • Provide compassionate care to hospitalized patients and their owners.
  • Manage multiple priorities simultaneously and problem-solve effectively.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with colleagues and clients.

Requirements:

  • Completion of a Veterinary Technologist or Animal Health Technologist program.
  • Knowledge of physical examinations, patient assessment, catheter placement, anesthesia monitoring, radiology, venipuncture, and pharmacy.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a veterinary hospital or clinic.
  • Knowledge of veterinary software and equipment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
