In this role, you will report directly to the Director of Global Data Integration within Enterprise Architecture. You will collaborate closely with the extended data services team, fellow architects, technical developers, platform administrators, and domain experts across various business sectors, as well as external specialists. Your primary responsibility will be to provide global guidance on technical data warehouse architecture and project solution architecture for innovative, data-driven solutions, working both independently and in partnership with other architects from the data services team and beyond.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and establish the target data architecture, including blueprints, standards, and solution architectures that support Nutrien's business architecture and facilitate data warehousing, business intelligence, reporting, and advanced analytics, along with data integration.
- Work towards implementing the target data architecture by identifying potential roadmap components based on the discrepancies between the current and target data architectures.
- Define comprehensive standards and patterns throughout the data warehouse solution lifecycle, from development to maintenance.
- Collaborate with the broader architecture community, various business units, and development teams to manage the organization's data assets effectively.
- Provide mentorship to team members and individuals in similar roles across the department.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of a post-secondary degree at the university level.
- Over 8 years of combined experience in delivering solutions and hands-on data roles within a large-scale, diverse IT environment.
- Technical expertise across multiple technology domains, with an understanding of how these technologies are utilized across various business functions and industries to create business value.
- Previous experience with technologies such as SAP HANA for data warehousing, other databases, BI/reporting technologies, SAP, and/or other ERPs.
- Profound knowledge of Data Warehousing concepts and prior experience in DW & BI environments.
- Familiarity with traditional data architecture frameworks (e.g., DMBOK) or certifications (e.g., CDMP/CBIP), as well as broader Enterprise Architecture concepts and frameworks (e.g., TOGAF) is desirable.
- A passion for technology and its application in solving real-world problems, particularly in enhancing data access and visibility. You should be comfortable writing SQL code or constructing ELT/ETL data pipelines when necessary, and stay updated on current developments to translate industry trends into a compelling roadmap for Nutrien.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with a determination to resolve complex issues through multiple approaches. You should be committed to testing solutions thoroughly and enjoy collaborating with others to develop sustainable architectures and solutions.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a knack for presenting ideas clearly. You should enjoy working with diverse teams while maintaining high levels of visibility, efficiency, and collaboration. Your negotiation and persuasion skills will be essential in fostering enterprise alignment on optimal data management and analytics practices.
- Strong business analysis skills, with the ability to ask insightful questions to uncover core issues. You should leverage your relationships across IT and business to target effective data warehouse architecture.
