Lead R&D Innovation at Acuity Brands

As a key member of our team, you will drive innovation and product development in the field of Building Automation Systems. Your expertise will be instrumental in shaping our R&D strategy and leading a talented team of engineers, software developers, and researchers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute the company's overall R&D strategy to drive innovation and product development in Building Automation Systems.
  • Lead and mentor a talented team of engineers, software developers, and researchers to drive excellence and innovation in R&D activities.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Product Management, Sales, and Marketing, to ensure alignment of R&D initiatives with business objectives and market needs.
  • Oversee the design, development, and testing of new BMS products, software applications, and technologies to meet customer requirements and market demands.
  • Drive continuous improvement and optimization of R&D processes, methodologies, and tools to enhance efficiency, quality, and speed to market.
  • Foster a culture of creativity, collaboration, and technical excellence within the R&D organization.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and market developments related to Building Automation Systems to identify opportunities for innovation and growth.
  • Establish and maintain strategic partnerships with industry organizations, technology vendors, and academic institutions to enhance R&D capabilities and access to resources.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and best practices in all R&D activities.
  • Provide regular updates and reports to senior leadership on the progress, milestones, and outcomes of R&D initiatives.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field; advanced degree (Master's or PhD) preferred.
  • Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in R&D leadership roles within the building automation, controls, or related industry.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading and managing R&D teams to deliver innovative products and solutions.
  • Strong technical expertise in building automation systems, controls, software development, and related technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and technical excellence.
  • Experience in building and maintaining strategic partnerships with external stakeholders.
  • Valid passport for traveling.
