About the Job

We are seeking a reliable and safety-conscious Spare School Bus Driver to join our team at First Student Canada-Transco. As a Spare School Bus Driver, you will be responsible for safely transporting students to and from school, while ensuring the well-being and safety of all passengers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate a school bus in a safe and efficient manner, adhering to all traffic laws and regulations.
  • Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure the bus is in good working condition.
  • Assist students with boarding and exiting the bus, while maintaining a safe and respectful environment.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff to ensure a smooth and safe transportation experience.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance your skills and knowledge as a school bus driver.
Requirements
  • Valid driver's license for at least 2 years.
  • At least 21 years old.
  • Good verbal communication skills.
  • Patience, caring, attention to detail, and communication skills are essential.
  • Undergo and pass a Ministry-prescribed medical examination and background checks.
  • Provide a driving abstract from Access Nova Scotia.
  • Pass a medical for a Class 2 license.
  • Completion of two tests at Access Nova Scotia before taking your road test for your Class 2B license.
