We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Research Associate to join our team at the University of Toronto. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a research program focused on the development of organ-on-a-chip models of coronavirus infection.

About the Role

The Research Associate will work closely with our multidisciplinary research team to design, direct, execute, analyze, and present novel investigative studies. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in biomedical engineering, human pluripotent stem cell culture, and differentiation into epicardial cells and cardiomyocytes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the development of organ-on-a-chip models of coronavirus infection
  • Support the overall research and teaching missions of the lab and Principal Investigators
  • Design, direct, execute, analyze, and present novel investigative studies
  • Collaborate with the research team to achieve project goals
  • Develop and test peptide-drugs
  • Run organ-on-a-chip experiments
  • Evaluate purchasing proposals and make orders
Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering or an equivalent field
  • Experience with human pluripotent stem cell culture and differentiation into epicardial cells and cardiomyocytes
  • Experience with ischemia reperfusion injury models
  • Training in the technology translation process
  • Experience with Biowire tissue model
  • Experience in confocal, fluorescence, and electron microscopy as well as electrophysiology
