Job Summary

Telesat, a leading global provider of satellite solutions, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Manager, Government and Public Affairs to develop and execute comprehensive public affairs and government relations strategies to shape policy and secure revenue backlog.

This is a critical leadership role that requires a strong understanding of government and public affairs, as well as excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute public affairs and government relations strategies to influence policy and secure revenue backlog.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with government officials, regulators, agencies, and industry associations to advocate for Telesat's objectives.
  • Foster collaboration with Canada's defence community to secure partnerships with the Department of National Defence, NORAD, and NATO.
  • Create impactful presentations for internal and external audiences to communicate Telesat's initiatives and value proposition.
  • Distill complex subjects into concise messages for diverse audiences, including governments and policymakers.
  • Conduct research and analysis on government policies, programs, legislation, and regulations to provide strategic guidance to senior management.
Requirements:
  • University degree in a relevant discipline, such as commerce, business administration, political science, economics, or engineering.
  • 7-10 years of progressive experience demonstrating increased levels of responsibility.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Possess a high level of professionalism with exceptional interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrate a proven ability to establish and cultivate strong relationships.
  • Highly skilled in creating impactful presentations using PowerPoint to deliver a compelling message.
  • Displays a strong overall business acumen, along with proficiency in relationship building, influencing, and negotiation.
