Championing Student Wellbeing:
The York Region District School Board is seeking applications for a Full-time, Permanent Making Connections Worker. This role is pivotal in enhancing student success through collaboration with school teams and Family School Liaison Counsellors.
The selected candidate will report to the Clinical Team Lead and will play a crucial role in implementing a robust Social Emotional Learning (SEL) curriculum, empowering students to effectively navigate their challenges.
In addition to classroom responsibilities, you will serve as a supportive resource for students and families facing difficulties, advocating for their needs and assisting them in overcoming barriers.
This is an opportunity to foster positive change and nurture a vibrant school community where both students and families can thrive.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement evidence-based mental health initiatives and early intervention strategies within educational settings.
- Collaborate with schools to ensure the successful integration of the Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) curriculum.
- Empower children, youth, and families by developing skills and knowledge essential for building positive relationships within school, home, and community contexts.
- Facilitate access to community resources for families through referrals, meeting coordination, and transportation arrangements as necessary.
- Advocate for families by working closely with school administration and community partners to secure appropriate support and services.
- Coordinate crisis intervention efforts by helping families access suitable services during challenging times.
We are looking for a highly motivated individual with a positive and enthusiastic demeanor. This role requires a dynamic person who excels in a fast-paced environment and possesses excellent interpersonal skills, along with a passion for relationship-building.
Qualifications and Experience:
- A related post-secondary degree or diploma in psychology, social work, or a similar field.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in mental health or health/human services roles (practicum experience is considered).
- Experience working in educational settings with children and adolescents.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience collaborating with community agencies and organizations.
- Exceptional organizational and time management abilities.
- Appropriate insurance coverage for transporting children and families.
