Job Title: Automation & Controls Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Automation & Controls Engineer to join our team at Cogent Industrial Technologies. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and commissioning plant-wide control systems for industrial projects in North America and globally.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop control systems for industrial projects, including greenfield installations and plant modernizations.
  • Develop technical specifications, system architecture drawings, and PLC programming for control systems.
  • Participate in hazard and risk analysis for brownfield and greenfield plant installations.
  • Generate testing procedures, maintenance information, and proof testing procedures for safety control systems.
  • Support the implementation of safety designs, including exploratory activities, electrical schematics, programming, and commissioning activities.
  • Communicate effectively with project stakeholders to resolve technical issues throughout all phases of the project.
Requirements:
  • Diploma or undergraduate degree in electrical engineering or related discipline.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in controls and automation design, preferably in an industrial setting.
  • Strong understanding of communications network architecture, PLC programming, and I/O devices.
  • Experience with electrical schematics, 2D and/or 3D modeling software, and North American electrical standards.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
