The Health Care Aide plays a vital role as part of a multidisciplinary team, delivering healthcare services to clients and their families within their home environment. In addition to a competitive salary, AHS offers a Fort McMurray Allowance, which can reach an annual maximum of $12,480. This allowance is non-pensionable and is disbursed on an hourly basis for all hours compensated at the basic pay rate. Description:
As a Health Care Aide (HCA), you will serve as a collaborative member of the multidisciplinary team, providing personal assistance that includes supporting daily living activities and delivering support services to patients (clients, residents) who require either short-term assistance or ongoing support, in alignment with the patient care plan and facility protocols. In this role, you will work closely with patients, families, and caregivers throughout the continuum of care in home, community, or healthcare settings, assisting nurses in delivering routine care to address patients' hygiene, nutrition, mobility, recreational, and safety needs. You will also help facilitate organized activities or programs and monitor and report on a patient's mood, health, and overall wellbeing. Under the guidance of a regulated health professional, you will contribute to maintaining a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors, while ensuring effective communication with patients and healthcare professionals.
Required Qualifications:
Completion of a Health Care Aide Certificate within 18 months of hire and active directory status on the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory is essential. A confirmation letter as proof of enrollment from the Directory must be provided. Nursing students currently enrolled in an approved Alberta nursing program who have successfully completed a minimum of 100 hours of practicum, and are either in their first year of a practical nursing program or second year of a baccalaureate nursing or psychiatric nursing program, will also be considered. Proof of qualification must be attested.

Previous experience in a Continuing Care Unit and prior Medication Administration Experience (MAPs) are advantageous.
