Position Overview:

WSP is actively seeking a skilled Senior Planner/Project Manager to enhance WSP's Urban and Community Planning division. This role will report to the Planning Manager and is pivotal in steering a variety of municipal planning policies and land development initiatives. The successful candidate will engage in a broad spectrum of projects within a vibrant, multi-disciplinary, and fast-paced environment. Key responsibilities will include recognizing and pursuing business prospects, aiding in the growth of our regional practice in Atlantic Canada, mentoring junior professionals, and collaborating with WSP's diverse expertise to deliver comprehensive planning services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drafting policy and zoning assessments for municipal and development stakeholders;
  • Creating municipal planning documents including municipal plans, zoning regulations, and secondary planning frameworks;
  • Conducting research and delivering insightful planning analyses;
  • Securing necessary planning and development approvals;
  • Facilitating public and stakeholder engagement processes;
  • Coordinating efforts across various disciplines and regions throughout Canada;
  • Leading proposal development for both internal and external clients;
  • Executing business development and client service initiatives;
  • Managing project-related tasks and responsibilities;
  • Undertaking additional duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Planning from an accredited institution;
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a municipal or consulting context;
  • Full membership in the Canadian Institute of Planners is required;
  • Proven ability to foster and expand our local Atlantic Canadian team through ongoing business development;
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is advantageous;
  • Strong analytical capabilities with proficiency in collecting, organizing, and interpreting data;
  • Demonstrated project management skills, including leading multi-disciplinary teams;
  • Highly motivated, organized, and adaptable team player dedicated to delivering exceptional service;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with effective time management;
  • Possession of a valid driver's license;
