Job Summary
This role serves as a frontline management position that upholds the CB Canada Safety Culture and oversees specific daily operations along with a designated team within a station or hub. The Operations Supervisor is accountable for ensuring safe and effective package sortation through the leadership of Package Handlers. Additionally, this position may involve managing administrative personnel and functions, ensuring that administrative processes align with company policies and governmental regulations.
Essential Functions
• Management responsibilities encompass, but are not limited to: recruitment, terminations, coaching, skills enhancement, recognition and rewards, performance assessment and management, disciplinary actions, addressing employee concerns, and monitoring staff productivity.
• Plans, organizes, staffs, directs, and controls the daily operations of the hub.
• Responsible for managing and allocating employees to guarantee the efficient sortation of packages through the facility, minimizing operational costs while maximizing quality, including collaboration with the linehaul department for the movement, tracking, and administration of trailers.
• Evaluates operational performance through direct observation, report interpretation, and collaboration with team members.
• Identifies opportunities for improvement in key metrics and implements action plans to achieve desired outcomes. Educates hub staff, including other management personnel, ensuring adherence to all company policies/procedures and applicable governmental regulations.
• Leads daily employee and/or planning meetings to facilitate workforce communication and understanding of operational updates and daily objectives.
• Participates in the development and administration of employee relations strategies, maintaining confidentiality of sensitive materials and matters.
• Investigates, resolves, and/or escalates customer service issues as necessary.
• Responsible for training new employees on job responsibilities and performance expectations, ensuring compliance with company policies, procedures, and other training requirements, including but not limited to quality assurance, hazardous materials, and dock safety.
• High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, or a related field preferred.
• 6 months experience as a Package Handler at CB Canada OR
• 6 months experience in a fast-paced environment such as retail, hospitality, fulfillment center, warehouse, dock, or stock room functions OR
• Military experience with honorable discharge OR
• Supervisory experience OR
• Certification program or Associate's degree in a related field or 2+ years of college coursework towards a degree (in lieu of experience)
• Preference for candidates with a Bachelor's degree.
• Ability to inspire a shared vision and empower a team.
• Demonstrated capability to build professional rapport, effectively lead a team, and positively influence diverse groups.
• Proven ability to apply sound business judgment to establish and achieve goals.
• Customer service skills necessary to respond effectively and professionally to requests and issues; strong verbal and written communication skills required to interact with various audiences and provide employees with clear instructions on processes and practices.
• Ability to read, interpret, and draw conclusions from numerical data and written information.
• Proficiency in software applications, including Microsoft Office and web-based tools.
• Ability to maintain knowledge of relevant technology-based projects, including various devices and computer applications.
• Capacity to mentor, coach, and serve as a knowledge resource for other employees.
