Position Overview

Reporting directly to the Vice President of Manufacturing Operations, the Director of US Operations is tasked with enhancing the effectiveness and competitiveness of our manufacturing processes, focusing on cost management, production efficiency, safety standards, and quality assurance. This role is integral to the strategic planning of the organization and acts as a catalyst for change. The Director will establish and uphold rigorous methods and management practices while collaborating with various departments to ensure seamless integration with manufacturing operations.

The successful candidate will possess the ability to navigate all organizational levels and maintain a strong connection with the realities of the production floor.

  • Contribute to the formulation of the organization's strategies by aligning them with operational realities;
  • Identify, develop, and oversee the implementation of process improvements to enhance manufacturing efficiency;
  • Stay informed about industry best practices and benchmark operational performance against relevant market indicators;
  • Design, plan, execute, and monitor initiatives to meet established objectives;
  • Serve as a member of the Management Committee;
  • Structure operations within the sector to optimize resource efficiency and performance;
  • Direct and support high-level operational activities in collaboration with management;
  • Lead and mentor teams engaged in significant investment and improvement projects;
  • Promote continuous improvement practices throughout the organization and ensure their adoption;
  • Collaborate on the development and enforcement of standardized operating procedures and key performance indicators;
  • Enhance equipment efficiency and productivity to achieve set goals;
  • Monitor team performance to ensure compliance with safety, operational, and quality standards;
  • Implement and oversee health and safety protocols and ensure adherence to regulations;
  • Participate in operational audits.

Human Resources and Material Management

  • Champion a culture of continuous improvement and positively influence change management;
  • Guide the management team to lead by example and foster a positive work environment;
  • Develop a succession plan to nurture and advance employee capabilities within the department;

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (industrial, mechanical, or electrical) or production management, or a combination of education and experience;
  • A minimum of five years in a director-level position;
  • Proven experience in managing multiple sites;
  • Extensive background in the manufacturing sector, preferably within the agri-food industry or high-volume production environments;
  • Possession of a recognized certification (e.g., Black Belt) or equivalent experience in lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies;
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities, with a focus on engaging and inspiring teams;
  • Exceptional analytical and synthesis skills;
  • Strong organizational, planning, and prioritization abilities;
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, persuasion, and negotiation skills;
  • Results-driven mindset;
  • Proficient in problem-solving and making informed decisions quickly;
  • Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and oversee work teams;
  • Willingness to travel up to 33% of the time.
