Position Overview
As the Assistant Manager of Drafting Operations, you will report directly to the Drafting Manager and serve as the primary leader for the Broadview/Sterling Drafting team. Your role encompasses providing management, design, and technical guidance to facilitate the objectives of the business unit. You will also be responsible for developing and maintaining standard home designs, as well as reviewing and creating design documentation for construction projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting in the creation of new product lines, which includes unique architectural facades and plan development. Modifying standard home designs to align with market demands and industry trends.
- Preparing and submitting both preliminary and final plot plans in accordance with specifications and regulations.
- Collaborating with sales teams to finalize customized home designs based on client requests and design specifications. Reviewing and preparing final drawings for homeowner approval.
- Completing drawings and specifications for developer approvals, making adjustments as needed.
- Managing correspondence documentation for permit applications to municipalities and coordinating permits with trades.
- Overseeing departmental performance, evaluating weekly project progress, and adjusting schedules as necessary.
- Providing mentorship and guidance to Design team members to foster their development.
- Maintaining an understanding of relevant municipal bylaws and building codes. Developing and implementing structural and mechanical design requirements.
- Preparing and updating marketing materials for product promotion. Reviewing and approving product renderings.
- Assessing the constructability of homes and identifying opportunities for value engineering.

Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Architectural Design or a related field.
- A minimum of 6 years of experience in design and drafting.
- Prior experience in a supervisory capacity is preferred.
- Successful completion of a criminal record check.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint, PowerPoint) and architectural drafting software (SoftPlan, AutoCAD, Revit).
