Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Laborer to join our team at CanWel Building Materials. As a Laborer, you will be responsible for operating lumber handling equipment, wrapping, banding, and labeling lumber, as well as identifying and counting various lumber products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate lumber handling equipment at various wood stacking machinery.
  • Band and wrap lumber to ensure proper packaging and labeling.
  • Identify and count various lumber products to ensure accuracy and quality.
  • Occasionally hand pile wood to maintain a clean and organized yard.
  • Service production machines to ensure optimal performance.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment to ensure safety and efficiency.
  • Adhere to all work safety rules and regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers.

Requirements:

  • Attention to detail and ability to count and identify various lumber products.
  • Experience working in a lumber mill or lumber yard is desirable.
  • Must have own steel-toed boots and be able to lift up to 50 pounds or 23 kilograms.
  • Bending, lifting, and reaching during the course of the shift.
  • Must be able to speak, read, and write English.
  • Forklift certification is an asset.
  • Level Three First Aid is an asset.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High school graduation preferred.
  • Background in Forestry, Wood Processing is an asset.
