About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our Geotechnical Service Group in Ottawa or Kingston. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing technical expertise and leadership in geotechnical engineering evaluations, project management, and business development.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Perform geotechnical engineering evaluations, including soil and bedrock engineering design, slope stability analysis, earth retention systems, excavation, dewatering, and shoring.
  2. Schedule assessments and meetings with clients and contractors.
  3. Assign work to field staff as appropriate, depending on workloads and in conjunction with other senior managers.
  4. Prepare contract documents, proposals, and reports.
  5. Provide clients with advice on relevant regulations and guidelines.
  6. Mentor, train, and supervise junior field staff.
  7. Review written work of technical staff and provide feedback and guidance when needed.
  8. Meet with clients to determine project requirements.
  9. Contribute to business development and marketing efforts to new and existing clients.
Requirements
  1. University degree in Geotechnical, Civil, or Geological Engineering or a related field.
  2. 8+ years of experience in a geotechnical engineering role.
  3. Professional Engineering Designation in the Province of Ontario or eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario.
  4. Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and geotechnical engineering software.
  5. Ability to work closely with project teams across the company, providing geotechnical support as needed.
  6. Effective communication and presentation skills.
  7. Excellent technical writing skills for preparing geotechnical engineering reports and letters.
  8. Valid driver's license and personal vehicle (work-related travel expenses will be compensated).
