About the Role:

Westinghouse Electric Company is seeking a Director of Government Relations for Canada to spearhead our engagement with federal and provincial government entities. This pivotal role requires a leader with a proven track record in navigating complex governmental landscapes and a commitment to excellence and integrity in the field of government affairs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, guiding on political, policy, and regulatory matters.
  • Design and execute impactful advocacy initiatives aligned with key business objectives requiring governmental support.
  • Position Westinghouse as a leading voice in the public policy arena, advocating for essential legislative and policy priorities.
  • Identify and pursue new avenues for government funding and support for Westinghouse initiatives.
  • Manage relationships with federal and provincial governments, as well as diplomatic missions.
  • Oversee participation in external business councils and trade associations.
  • Represent Westinghouse in high-level ministerial discussions.
  • Manage public affairs and media relations to bolster advocacy efforts.

Qualifications:

  • Preferred Master's Degree.
  • Over 10 years of experience in government or the private sector, particularly in energy-related issues.
  • Proven expertise in engaging with high-profile stakeholders, including elected officials and industry leaders.
  • In-depth understanding of Canadian governmental policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate complex policy challenges and devise innovative solutions.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills, with a capacity for persuasive communication under tight deadlines.
