We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Health Care Worker to join our team at BC Mental Health & Substance Use Services. As a key member of our unit-based programs, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with complex mental health and substance use challenges.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and maintain skills relevant to patients' reintegration into the community through one-on-one work and small community outings.
- Prepare for groups by ensuring program materials are ready, reviewing content, and cleaning up the group space.
- Work alongside clients to demonstrate and teach skills such as laundry, personal hygiene, and community navigation.
- Establish and maintain therapeutic relationships with patients and families while fostering a culture of patient and staff safety.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to identify patient strengths, limitations, and areas for development.
- Ensure safety by reviewing patient information, communicating concerns, and participating in routine safety checks.
- Grade 10 plus graduation from a recognized Nursing Assistant Program or Care Attendant Program, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Ability to communicate effectively, deal with others effectively, and organize work.
- Commitment to developing knowledge and understanding of legislative obligations and provincial commitments related to Indigenous reconciliation.
