About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our team at Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL). As an Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for providing integrated project management, engineering, design, and construction services for nuclear and non-nuclear facilities, and R&D experiments at the Chalk River Site.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead design projects, including job management and execution oversight.
  • Provide regular updates and status reports to management.
  • Guide the work of several professional engineers and technologists, coordinating schedules and assigning tasks to meet project objectives.
  • Provide mentorship and technical oversight to junior staff.
  • Design and develop electrical power systems, including retrofits and modifications to existing systems.
  • Specify technical components for electrical systems.
  • Perform electrical power studies using software such as ETAP.
  • Prepare design documentation, including concept reports, design requirements, and technical specifications.
  • Provide engineering support during construction, installation, and commissioning project phases.
  • Collaborate with customers and stakeholders to ensure project success.
  • Review and accept designs prepared by outside agencies.
  • Develop and maintain engineering specifications and standards.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from a recognized university, with over 8 years of relevant experience.
  • Member of a provincial professional engineering association.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of engineering codes and standards used in the design, construction, and commissioning of nuclear and non-nuclear facilities.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in technical matters and make independent decisions.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with experience making technical presentations.
  • Experience in the technical procurement process, including supplier qualification reviews and bid evaluations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of CSA N286/N285 quality standards.
  • Effective team leadership and team-building skills.
  • Experience in performing electrical power studies using software such as ETAP.
  • Security Clearance Eligibility Required: Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC).
