Position Overview

AECOM's Calgary Bridge team is in search of a Senior Structural Bridge Consultant to enhance our capabilities in managing a diverse array of projects, from local municipal structures to significant undertakings in alternative delivery frameworks.

The scope of projects will encompass:

  • New construction initiatives
  • Bridge rehabilitation efforts

In this role, you will:

  • Lead engineering initiatives on mid- to large-scale projects, catering to both public and private sector clients.
  • Provide specialized technical insights for studies and designs, including the development of drawings and considerations for constructability.
  • Utilize structural analysis software for modeling purposes.
  • Deliver technical expertise for both preliminary and detailed design phases.
  • Articulate complex technical solutions to clients effectively.
  • Conduct quality control assessments of work produced by team members.
  • Prepare estimates for engineering budgets and schedules to align with large project requirements.

The team you will be joining is a high-achieving group, having successfully delivered preliminary or detailed designs for over 100 major structures in the past 15 years. The core team members, including drafting and engineering professionals, have collaborated on all these designs.

With a track record of over 15 design-build/P3 pursuits and successful collaboration on 7 of those projects, along with the design and construction of 7 conventionally delivered interchanges, this group offers a wealth of experience for you to leverage or contribute to.

Our current project backlog extends beyond Calgary and Canada, making familiarity with design standards in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, and the US advantageous.

Given the ongoing push for infrastructure development in North America, particularly in rail and bus transit, this position presents a significant opportunity to engage in community-enhancing projects without the need for relocation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering with a minimum of 8 years of experience in bridge design.
  • At least 4 years of experience on projects valued over $100 million.
  • Master's Degree in Structural Engineering with over 15 years of experience leading bridge design projects.
  • Proven experience in successfully managing a bridge design team on 3-4 major infrastructure projects.
  • Experience in multi-disciplinary engineering projects, with the ability to coordinate with related design disciplines such as drainage, roadway, lighting, and aesthetics.
  • Recent familiarity with the Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code (CSA S6) and AASHTO LRFD.
  • Understanding of the consulting engineering business model.
