Position Summary

Occupational Therapist, Orthopaedic & Plastic Outpatient
As an Occupational Therapist in our Ortho/Plastics clinic, your goal is to provide high-quality hand therapy services to patients undergoing hand surgeries and conservative management of hand conditions. You will work effectively with plastic surgeons and other members of the healthcare team to develop and implement individualized treatment plans. Your excellent communication and interpersonal skills will enable you to adapt to the demand of a constantly changing workload and maintain a caseload consistent with established standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and assess clinical findings to identify functional strengths and weaknesses
  • Develop and implement appropriate Occupational Therapy hand therapy programs for the patient's condition and adapt, change, or terminate these as necessary
  • Be proficient in fabrication of thermoplastic splints
  • Communicate effectively with physicians, staff, patients, families, and community agencies
  • Supervise occupational therapy students, interns, and volunteers
  • Self-evaluate to maintain a high standard of care and determine need for professional development

Qualifications

  • As required by COTO: a degree or diploma in Occupational Therapy from a recognized school
  • Registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario
  • Experience with hand therapy is essential
