Position Overview:

As part of our highway engineering division, you will engage in a variety of Ministry of Transportation (MTO) design initiatives, including highway expansions and bridge refurbishments. This role will emphasize the technical delivery of projects, particularly through the use of InRoads/OpenRoads software. We are looking for candidates who are passionate about overcoming technical challenges and staying abreast of the latest technological advancements.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • A degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility for licensure within one year.
  • Established reputation in collaboration with MTO.
  • Experience in highway engineering and familiarity with the consulting engineering landscape.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of highway engineering principles, including relevant policies and regulations.
  • Proven track record in detailed design work.
  • Strong collaborative skills, capable of working effectively with clients and stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication abilities, both verbal and written.
  • Attention to detail, strong problem-solving capabilities, and creative thinking.
  • Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle.
  • 4 to 7 years of relevant experience in highway design, particularly with MTO projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a highway engineer for MTO preliminary and detailed design projects.
  • Provide technical mentorship and oversight to junior engineers and technical staff.
  • Develop designs for various highway facilities, including freeways and interchanges.
  • Prepare technical documentation, including reports, drawings, and cost estimates.
  • Create plans and design quantities using Civil 3D/InRoads/Open Roads Design software.
  • Conduct initial site inspections and fieldwork for design assignments.
  • Maintain positive relationships with clients and stakeholders.
  • Stay updated on the latest design tools and methodologies in CAD/civil 3D/Microstation/InRoads/Open Roads Design.
