This is a Full-Time position offering 10 Programmed Activities (PAs), with flexibility for applicants interested in part-time arrangements. Job plans will be tailored to meet the needs of successful candidates through negotiation.

The role focuses on stroke medicine, involving participation in ward rounds on the stroke unit, acute thrombolysis sessions, and TIA clinic responsibilities. On-call duties will include support for the middle-grade acute medicine on-call rota, with further details available upon request, including weekend commitments at a 1:5 ratio and night cover at a 1:15 ratio.

Key Responsibilities

Provide support for Hyper Acute Stroke, Acute Stroke, and Rehabilitation wards, assisting in consultant-led ward rounds. Participate in acute thrombolysis, backed by a specialist nursing team and stroke consultant-led TIA clinics. The frequency of these duties will be determined based on service requirements in consultation with the successful candidate.

Required Qualifications
  • MRCP or equivalent qualification
  • Full Registration with the General Medical Council and a Licence to Practise are mandatory
Experience and Skills
  • A minimum of 4 years of postgraduate experience, including at least 1 year in the Stroke Specialty
  • Demonstrated high-level clinical experience and competence in all areas of the Stroke specialty
  • Awareness of current challenges in Stroke and the future trajectory of the specialty
  • Understanding of broader NHS issues
  • Completion of a recognized management course
  • Proven ability to collaborate and lead across various professional disciplines
Teaching and Mentorship
  • Experience and enthusiasm for clinical education of postgraduate doctors and non-medical personnel
  • Academic accomplishments or familiarity with research methodologies resulting in publications
  • Training in clinical and educational supervision
  • Participation in a teaching course
  • Formal qualification in teaching or education
Research and Audit
  • Knowledge of audit principles with evidence of involvement in audit projects
