Job Title: Supervisor/ Lead Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic

Emterra Group is a safety-focused and growth-oriented company providing essential collection and processing services for recycling, organics, and waste management. We are seeking a skilled and experienced Supervisor/ Lead Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic to join our team at our United Boulevard Recycling and Waste Centre.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the day-to-day operation of Emterra Maintenance Equipment, overseeing a team of apprentices and mechanics, and ensuring preventative maintenance, repair quality, and safety. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical knowledge of waste handling equipment, a positive attitude, and a strong work ethic.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review and organize work according to Preventative Maintenance and manufactures recommendations.
  • Repair waste handling equipment, including troubleshooting of hydraulics and electrical systems.
  • Ensure that all equipment, vehicles, and work areas are always following safety policies and regulations.
  • Diagnose and rectify faults and address service calls and/or break downs in a timely fashion.
  • Minimize equipment downtime, and ensure the fleet is ready for operations the next day.
  • Certify that the fleet meets corporate appearance standards.
  • Liaise with Operations Supervisors and operations team in a professional and team-oriented manner.
  • Liaise with outside vendors.
  • Maintain all equipment records and files with the CMMS Co-ordinator.
  • Ensure that the shop and surrounding grounds are clean and organized at all times.
  • Ensure that all work is performed safely, cost-effectively, and in a timely manner.
Requirements:
  • Red Seal Certificate in the Heavy Equipment Mechanic trade.
  • 5 years previous experience as a Heavy Duty Mechanic.
  • Previous leadership experience is considered an asset.
  • Valid drivers' license with air brake endorsement.
  • Strong technical knowledge of waste handling equipment.
  • Positive attitude and strong work ethic.
  • Willingness to take on new challenges and grow with experience.
  • Computer knowledge and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must have flexibility to work late, be available for weekend and/or holiday work when required to meet operational needs.
