Job Summary

We are seeking a reliable and safety-conscious Transit Driver to join our team at First Transit Canada. As a Transit Driver, you will be responsible for safely transporting passengers and maintaining the appearance of the interior of the bus.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive Safely: Operate a transit vehicle in a safe and courteous manner, adhering to all company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain Vehicle Appearance: Ensure the interior of the bus is clean and well-maintained.
  • Provide Excellent Customer Service: Assist passengers with boarding and securing wheelchairs or scooters, and provide information and assistance as needed.
  • Communicate Effectively: Notify dispatch of any deviations, accidents, or issues, and complete written reports as required.
  • Operate On-Board Systems: Use the on-board computer to display destination signs and perform other tasks as required.
Requirements
  • Education: High school graduate or equivalent.
  • License: Class BZ or CZ driving license, clear driver abstract, and background check.
  • Experience: Previous transit experience an asset.
  • Skills: Good verbal communication skills, ability to read, write, and speak English, and ability to work under stress and meet strict timelines.
Working Conditions
  • Physical Demands: Ability to verbally communicate with passengers and dispatchers, possess excellent or corrected vision, and have good manual dexterity.
  • Environmental Conditions: Subject to wet, cold, and/or hot environmental conditions, vehicle noise and vibration, and vehicle exhaust fumes and odors.
