About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Design and Controls Specialist to join our team at BHP Group. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing technical expertise in the production, development, and management of autonomous fixed plant equipment and underground mining control systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, operate, and maintain sensing, measurement, and actuation devices to collect data for automated solutions.
  • Develop, verify, and maintain Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) to control, monitor, and collect data from operational processes.
  • Conduct process modelling, use process control algorithms, test, and maintain process control systems to enhance security and performance.
  • Install, conduct verification/functional testing, and regular post-installation calibration of automated equipment to optimize safety and performance.
  • Develop, commission, and maintain high-performance supervisory control systems (e.g. SCADA) to control fixed-plant systems, machinery, and processes.
Requirements
  • Tertiary qualification in electrical engineering/control systems engineering or equivalent.
  • Good knowledge of various hardware and software technologies, such as encoders and 3D Laser Scanning systems.
  • Strong experience with vendor and contract management practices and processes.
