As an independent worker with a versatile schedule, you will have the chance to engage in various shifts, including daytime, evening, overnight, and weekend hours. This temporary on-call role presents an excellent opportunity to gain insights into the mail operations industry and explore the diverse career paths available at Canada Post.
Please be aware that certain locations may rotate their personnel, and a temporary Mail Operations Associate may be called upon to assist the public at service counters, manage financial transactions, and carry out other related responsibilities as needed.
Key Responsibilities
The ideal candidate will:
- Execute a range of sales and customer service tasks to guarantee complete customer satisfaction
- Utilize a computerized point of sale system
- Organize and maintain product displays
- Conduct inventory management and merchandising
- Uphold a comprehensive understanding of postal products, services, and delivery processes
- Handle financial transactions (cash, cheques, debit & credit card payments)
- Receive, categorize, sequence, and batch mail items
- Operate mail processing machinery (clearing jams, retrieving mail from sorting devices, as necessary)
- Move mail between different floors or sections using rolling or motorized equipment, as applicable
- Input data into a computer system, when necessary
- Verify mail items for address correctness, appropriate postage, etc.
- Be prepared to stand in one location for up to 3.5 hours continuously
- Engage in physical activities related to handling mail items weighing up to 22.7 kilograms (50 lbs) and transporting mail items weighing up to 15.9 kilograms (35 lbs), including bending, reaching, lifting, and carrying.
Required Qualifications
- Background in customer service within a retail setting
- Sales experience is beneficial
- Familiarity with working in a production environment is advantageous
