The Culinary Assistant plays a vital role in the preparation of freshly made menu items for patients and clients within a dynamic kitchen environment. This position involves managing ingredient quantities for recipes, which includes precise measuring and portioning, as well as the production of food items for patient service. The Culinary Assistant is also tasked with adhering to cost control measures, safe food handling protocols, dietary standards, and delivering exceptional customer service in line with departmental expectations.
QualificationsWe invite applications from individuals who possess the following:
- Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent is mandatory.
- A recognized Food Safety and Sanitation Course is required or a commitment to obtain certification within six months.
- A minimum of one (1) year of relevant experience is essential.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to follow both written and verbal instructions.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively within a team setting.
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills, with the capacity to work under time constraints.
- Physical capability to perform the duties of the role, including heavy lifting and enduring the demands of walking and standing throughout shifts, while managing temperature variations.
- Availability to work weekends and rotating shifts as required.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Proficiency in additional languages is an asset, with French being preferred.
- Casual Relief Positions available.
- Shifts may encompass days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
The hourly wage for this position is $23.99.
