TEAM OVERVIEWAs an Associate in Infrastructure Investments, you will collaborate with a team of driven professionals focused on pursuing and managing a diverse portfolio of global infrastructure assets. Your role will encompass various facets of the investment process, including research, origination, due diligence, and asset management.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIESIn your capacity as an Associate in Infrastructure Investments, your responsibilities will include:
Evaluating Infrastructure Investment Opportunities and Executing Transactions- Conduct thorough analyses of investment opportunities, assessing the investment thesis along with associated merits and risks.
- Evaluate historical and projected financial data of target companies, considering strategic positioning, industry dynamics, and regulatory factors.
- Prepare and recommend equity valuations for target companies, which includes:
- Developing comprehensive operational and financial models for DCF valuation, substantiating key assumptions, and performing sensitivity analyses on primary value drivers;
- Establishing expected returns aligned with the risk profile of the business plan;
- Researching public information on comparable companies and precedent transactions to benchmark valuations.
- Engage in key due diligence activities for target companies, coordinating and reviewing work conducted by third-party advisors across various domains.
- Assist in the preparation of investment memorandums and present recommendations to investment committees.
- Oversee periodic financial and operational results, providing explanations for management plan variances.
- Conduct ad hoc analyses of portfolio companies' performance and future trajectories.
- Support the periodic valuation process of portfolio companies.
- Collaborate with management teams to evaluate and execute investment opportunities and capital projects.
- Assist in reviewing strategic alternatives and exit opportunities for portfolio companies.
- Stay informed on significant industry developments and share relevant insights with the team.
- Analyze trends in existing and emerging infrastructure sectors, conducting in-depth research and engaging with industry experts.
- Build and maintain a network of industry contacts to enhance information access for the team.
Note: This position may require travel.
QUALIFICATIONSWe seek a collaborative team player who thrives in a high-performance environment and possesses strong interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of experience with a solid foundation in financial statements, corporate finance, M&A, and valuation, complemented by excellent analytical and modeling capabilities.
Specific qualifications include:
- A bachelor's degree in a relevant field; a master's degree is an asset.
- Professional designations such as CA, MBA, CFA, or CBV are advantageous.
- Three to five years of relevant experience in financial analysis, accounting, modeling, valuation, or transactional roles within consulting or investment banking.
- Experience in the infrastructure and/or energy sectors is a plus.
- Strong analytical skills and sound judgment regarding financial statements.
- A collaborative spirit with a desire to mentor junior team members.
- Excellent communication skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, as well as financial analytical tools.
- Fluency in English and French is preferred, or a willingness to learn French.
