Compensation: CAD $115k - 145K (Vancouver)
Key Responsibilities:
- Synthesize novel protein-based chelator-conjugates and other compounds to support the advancement of Abdera's pipeline projects.
- Develop labeling conditions and assays for the dependable preparation of radioconjugates for evaluation in assays and in vivo studies.
- Oversee and effectively communicate radiochemistry data and conditions to ensure seamless collaboration with internal teams and contract research organizations (CROs).
- Assist in quality control of data and troubleshoot radiosynthesis processes both internally and externally.
- Follow best practices in radiation safety and collaborate with colleagues to maintain a contamination-free and organized laboratory environment.
- Stay informed on current methodologies in radiochemistry and nuclear medicine.
- Contribute to due diligence and documentation for new intellectual property filings.
- Engage with the multidisciplinary Abdera research team to analyze data and advance new molecular targets through a robust discovery pipeline.
- Maintain meticulous records and laboratory notes with comprehensive reporting using electronic lab notebooks and databases.
Qualifications, Education & Experience:
- PhD or MSc in a chemistry or radiochemistry-related field.
- Minimum of 2 years (PhD) or 4 years (MSc) of post-graduate experience in radiochemistry within a clinical or industrial setting.
- At least 5 years of experience in radiochemistry, radiopharmaceuticals, and/or CMC development, combining academic and industrial/clinical experience.
- Familiarity with common medical isotopes is highly advantageous.
- Hands-on experience in labeling antibody or peptide radioconjugates.
Skills and Competencies:
- Proven ability to produce radioconjugates under tight deadlines as a certified nuclear energy worker in an academic or industrial environment.
- Strong understanding of nuclear chemistry and physics principles necessary for conducting accurate quantitative analyses on radiolabeled tracers.
- Knowledge of safe operations in a regulated environment while performing radiolabeling, analysis, and stability studies on radiolabeled compounds.
- Experience in designing and executing labeling processes in clinical or industrial settings is preferred.
- Ability to think critically and develop new and improved procedures while working independently.
- Knowledgeable in radiobiology and capable of interpreting in vivo and in vitro data to inform decisions on new chemistry.
- A collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills and a solid work ethic.
- Proficient in both written and verbal communication.
