We are in search of a Sanitation Supervisor for our facility. The successful candidate will oversee and train team members while ensuring adherence to quality and occupational health and safety standards.

Job status: Full-time / Permanent

Schedule: Day shift - Continental Shift, 1 weekend out of 2

Note: Flexibility will be required based on operational needs.

Key Responsibilities:

○ Planning and Production

  • Develop work schedules and optimize available resources for task execution.
  • Implement and enforce sanitation protocols relevant to the department (e.g., inventory management, supplier approval, safety, cleaning, sanitizing, titration, etc.).
  • Recommend enhancements or modifications to equipment (e.g., cleaning schedules) based on data analysis and trends.
  • Enhance outcomes (safety, quality, cost efficiency, waste reduction) through continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Support the Quality Assurance department in maintaining standards by consistently following established procedures.

○ Human Resources Management and Labor Relations

  • Supervise, train, and mentor staff across various shifts.
  • Build a skilled team by collaborating with employees, setting performance expectations, monitoring and assessing performance, providing coaching, training, and disciplinary actions, and enforcing company policies.
  • Address employee satisfaction and proactively resolve issues that may impact productivity or morale.
  • Foster positive working relationships with employees to mitigate dissatisfaction and morale challenges within the department.
  • Facilitate resolution of labor relations issues through mediation and eliminate unproductive behaviors with progressive disciplinary measures in consultation with Human Resources.

○ Health & Safety

  • Assist in ensuring employee compliance with health and safety regulations and promote a culture of safety, including raising awareness of OHS issues by participating in committees and promptly reporting and investigating OHS concerns.
  • Actively engage in interdepartmental committees to develop solutions for real challenges.
  • Investigate incidents and rectify hazardous conditions to prevent injuries and equipment failures.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy work environment for all personnel.

○ Additional Duties

  • Keep management informed of any problematic or conflictual situations.
  • Participate actively in meetings and other organizational activities (including ad hoc projects).
  • Support production in adherence to sanitation protocols and various certifications.
  • Assist production in implementing Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • Perform any other tasks as assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary diploma, such as a trade certificate or university/college diploma is preferred.
  • Familiarity with WHMIS is essential.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in agri-food industrial sanitation is required.
