The Social Worker plays a crucial role in delivering mental health services within the educational setting, specifically in collaboration with the Schools Plus initiative. This program is designed to foster a supportive environment for children and their families, ensuring that mental health services are accessible and tailored to the needs of the school community.
Key ResponsibilitiesAs a vital member of a multidisciplinary team, the Social Worker will:
- Engage in the planning, execution, and assessment of mental health services for students.
- Focus on early detection and intervention strategies for mental health issues affecting children and adolescents.
- Serve as a bridge between students, educational staff, and mental health resources.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A Master's degree in Social Work.
- Current registration or eligibility for registration with the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers.
- A minimum of two years of experience in providing mental health support to young individuals.
- Expertise in utilizing diagnostic tools to assess and address common childhood mental health challenges.
- Proficiency in implementing evidence-based treatment plans and therapeutic interventions.
- Strong skills in crisis intervention and risk assessment.
- Ability to work collaboratively with families and other professionals to enhance service delivery.
This is a permanent part-time role, requiring 37.5 hours of work bi-weekly.
