Position Overview

The Social Worker plays a crucial role in delivering mental health services within the educational setting, specifically in collaboration with the Schools Plus initiative. This program is designed to foster a supportive environment for children and their families, ensuring that mental health services are accessible and tailored to the needs of the school community.

Key Responsibilities

As a vital member of a multidisciplinary team, the Social Worker will:

  • Engage in the planning, execution, and assessment of mental health services for students.
  • Focus on early detection and intervention strategies for mental health issues affecting children and adolescents.
  • Serve as a bridge between students, educational staff, and mental health resources.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Master's degree in Social Work.
  • Current registration or eligibility for registration with the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in providing mental health support to young individuals.
  • Expertise in utilizing diagnostic tools to assess and address common childhood mental health challenges.
  • Proficiency in implementing evidence-based treatment plans and therapeutic interventions.
  • Strong skills in crisis intervention and risk assessment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with families and other professionals to enhance service delivery.
Work Schedule

This is a permanent part-time role, requiring 37.5 hours of work bi-weekly.
