Job Title: Direct Service Worker - Bloodvein City Unit

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Direct Service Worker to join our team at Southeast Child Family Services. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing protection and prevention services to the children and families of the designated First Nations community.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Carry and manage caseloads specific to Family Protection and Children-In-Care within prescribed timelines.
  • Work in and intervene with crisis situations in an appropriate and timely manner.
  • Establish and maintain partnerships with community resources for clients as well as team members.
  • Participate in Agency events, training, and work flexible hours as required.
  • Group facilitation, team building, and decision-making, taking initiative, problem-solving, leading, planning, coordinating, and facilitating meetings, de-escalating conflict, and providing solutions.
  • Excellent case and file management skills, stress management, time management, and documentation detail.
  • Work in a team-based environment as well as independent responsibilities.
  • Will be required to travel to designated First Nations communities and rural areas as needed.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Social Work (an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered).
  • A minimum of two (2) years' experience in front-line case management with Children-in-Care and families.
  • Experience conducting investigations, including gathering and analyzing information to implement appropriate action(s).
Demonstrated Working Knowledge:
  • Indigenous culture and an understanding of the rural cultural environment.
  • The Child and Family Services Act, The Adoption Act, An Act respecting First Nations, Inuit and Métis children, youth, and families, Indigenous child welfare practices, First Nations history, and colonization.
  • Crisis intervention, child protection investigations, assessment of high-risk situations to determine appropriate response times.
  • Substance abuse, family violence, child abuse/neglect, grief and loss issues, and community resources.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (specific to documentation and report writing).
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (i.e., Word, Excel, and Outlook), CFSIS, and IM.
  • Valid driver's license and a reliable vehicle.
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record, Child Abuse Registry, and Prior Contact Check.
